Between #8 &9, centipede and bermuda dinged up from freeze and frost last week

Spring is finally here. Ironiclly, we had patches of frost in some places on the first day of spring. Last week’s freeze/heavy frost knocked the Bermuda back throughout the golf course. The centipede around the pool and in between holes suffered the worst from the cool temperatures. With highs expected in the 80’s for the majority of the next week and overnight lows hovering around 60 degrees we will definitely rebound from last week’s freeze and frost.

The one thing that we have been lacking has been rain. We haven’t had a measurable rain in over a month. This week with the Touchdown Club and Packer Invitational tournaments we are going to soak the fairways, tees, and greens and soften things up as we get closer to the weekend. I will be applying a greens fertilizer on Wednesday that is part of our nutrient program to bring some color and growth to the greens after the freeze last week. Also, with the lack of rain, we are hopeful to have our irrigation pump installed next week. This will be extremely beneficial for our overall health of the course and will make things easy for me when it comes to scheduling run times with our irrigation.

Millie

Lastly, I'd like to mention that I've got a new assistant who started this week. Her name is, Millie, she is my 4 year old black lab mix. She likes to chase geese off every now and then, but mainly she keeps me company. Please feel free to say hello to Millie. She may seem timid/shy or nervous, but she will warm up to you in no time.

Again, thank you for following us this week as we strive to get better every day. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions/comments that you may have by using this blog, Facebook page, or emailing me at davisjoey@hotmail.com. Thanks for reading!

See you on the course!
